Sunday Worship

What a sweet – and sometimes theologically intense – season it has been as we have considered the doctrines of Redemption and Incarnation these past couple of months. The beauty of God’s goodness is displayed in more ways than we could even imagine in the sending of his Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior and Redeemer. God be praised!

Many of you may be wondering already, “What will be study next?” You may remember that back in 2020 we worked out way through the Gospel Account of Mark. It is high time for us to return to the Gospel accounts and remember the story, the message, the life, and the reality of the Gospel. You will also remember that we have spent a good bit of time in John 1 as we have considered Jesus’ incarnation. This gives us a helpful and natural segway into John’s Gospel Account as we take it up for our next series – Light in the Darkness, which will move through this amazingly deep but refreshingly simple Gospel Account.

Be sure to read through at least the first chapter in preparation for this coming Sunday!

Sunday School

Our study of Exodus 31 last Sunday reminded us of the Lord’s work in setting apart certain people for certain tasks and giving them gifts and talents in order to accomplish those tasks. We were also reminded of the importance of the Sabbath command given to the people of Israel and, with that, how important the Lord’s Day is to the Christian today.

As is often the case in the stories Scripture tells, the requiring of obedience is immediately followed by the lack of it. The infamous chapter 32, The Golden Calf, is up next. How is it that a people who had just been freed from their slavery, provisioned miraculously, guided supernaturally, and promised a great inheritance, could so quickly turn away from the God who had done these things? The answer to that is humbling.

Read Exodus 32 and then read Romans 6 as we get ready to learn more about God’s Word.
